Guides

Practical steps from eligibility and application to visa and your personal plan.

Applying to Italy: university, recognition and Universitaly

For Georgian applicants, programme admission and visa pre-enrolment are separate steps. The university decides how to evaluate foreign qualifications.

  1. Choose a programme and follow its university application portal, intake deadlines, entry tests and language rules.
  2. Ask the university which qualification documents and translations it requires. Confirm whether it requests CIMEA statements, a Declaration of Value (Dichiarazione di Valore), or another accepted route before ordering documents.
  3. Submit the academic application and meet any offer conditions. A recognition statement does not itself grant admission.
  4. When the visa route requires it, submit pre-enrolment through the official free Universitaly portal and obtain the institution's validation.
  5. Follow the Italian representation's study-visa checklist and the programme's earlier deadlines; Universitaly validation does not guarantee a visa.
  6. After arrival, complete the required residence-permit and university-enrolment procedures using the official instructions.

This guide does not guarantee admission or a visa. Confirm final requirements with the programme and relevant authority.

Applying to France through Études en France

Georgia is on the official Études en France list. The route depends on residence, degree level and the institution; some applications also use an institution's own portal.

  1. Check the programme's degree level, entry requirements, teaching language and whether it participates in Études en France.
  2. Confirm the procedure and calendar with Campus France for your country of residence; Georgian citizenship alone does not determine the residence-based route.
  3. Create the required Études en France application, enter academic history and programme choices, and upload the requested documents and translations.
  4. Complete the local Campus France processing steps and any interview required; also follow the institution's separate application instructions where applicable.
  5. Once admitted, complete the acceptance or pre-consular stage and follow France-Visas instructions for a long-stay study visa when required.
  6. After arrival, complete university registration and the applicable residence formalities.

This guide does not guarantee admission or a visa. Confirm final requirements with the programme and relevant authority.

Applying to the Netherlands: Studielink and the university

Studielink handles registration for many programmes, while the university assesses admission documents. Confirm both steps and the international applicant deadline.

  1. Check the programme's entry, language and selection requirements and its deadline for non-EEA applicants.
  2. Confirm whether the institution requires Studielink; some institutions use a different international registration route.
  3. Create the appropriate Studielink account using its current instructions and submit the enrolment request where required.
  4. Complete the university's own application portal, uploading academic records, language evidence and any programme-specific documents or fee.
  5. For numerus fixus programmes, check the 15 January deadline and selection rules; accept an offered place in Studielink within the stated period.
  6. After admission, follow the university's immigration, payment, insurance and housing instructions. Registration alone does not confirm admission.

This guide does not guarantee admission or a visa. Confirm final requirements with the programme and relevant authority.

Applying to an Austrian university

Apply directly to the institution. Georgian qualifications, document legalisation, language evidence and any entrance procedure are assessed under its rules.

  1. Choose the institution and programme; check its specific deadline for applicants with foreign qualifications.
  2. Confirm the required school-leaving certificate or previous degree and whether additional subject or entrance requirements apply.
  3. Prepare identity and academic documents, required legalisation and accepted German or English translations; follow the institution's Georgia-specific instructions.
  4. Provide the accepted language evidence and register separately for any entrance exam or selection procedure.
  5. Submit through the institution's portal or Admissions Office. OeAD does not process university applications.
  6. After admission, plan the applicable visa or student residence permit early, then complete enrolment and local registration.

This guide does not guarantee admission or a visa. Confirm final requirements with the programme and relevant authority.

Applying to Switzerland with Georgian qualifications

Swiss universities set their own rules. Use the current Georgian entry in swissuniversities for bachelor's admission; master's and doctoral applicants must follow the chosen university's criteria.

  1. Choose the university, degree level, teaching language and intake; check its application window for international qualifications.
  2. For a bachelor's, review the Georgian certificate requirements and the university's conditions in swissuniversities. Some institutions require proof of admission to a recognised Georgian university, an entrance exam or selection.
  3. For a master's or doctorate, confirm the recognised previous degree, subject preparation, language evidence and any supervisor requirement directly with the university.
  4. Prepare the institution's exact academic, identity and translation checklist and submit through its application portal.
  5. After an offer, follow the competent Swiss representation and canton for a long-stay study visa or residence approval; check Georgian nationality rules for the intended stay.
  6. Complete enrolment, required insurance and local registration after arrival. Scholarship selection and university admission are separate.

This guide does not guarantee admission or a visa. Confirm final requirements with the programme and relevant authority.
